A company that makes the internet cleaner.
Mostly a page about what we do not do.
Who we are.
Methmine makes tools for people who want a clean, anonymous internet: no tracking, no advertising, nobody looking where they were not invited. We are a private company and a closed community around what we build.
Today that is three things. Methmine Browser, for people who run many accounts. Methmine VPN, fast and private. Methmail, private email we are building.
We admit a narrow circle of people and listen to them before opening the door wider.
The products pageThe point of view.
Anonymity should not be a choice. It should be the default.
A company, not a giant. Small on purpose, and we answer you ourselves.
Nothing is forced on you. What you turn on and what you share is yours to decide.
An internet without tracking and advertising belongs to everyone who uses it.
Data that does not exist cannot be lost, so we collect less of it.
What we do keep, we say ourselves, before anyone asks.
What we do not do.
We do not count people.
We do not sell what we know about you, or pass it on for advertising.
The cloud for a profile is off until you turn it on.
We push nobody else’s extensions through a channel of our own, wallets included.
We do not ask you to switch off your firewall so that our product will start.
No identity document.
We do not hold your profiles as collateral.
What the site knows about you.
Anonymity here is not a promise; it is the list of what we do not ask and do not keep. The application asks for a contact and what you run, in your own words, and nothing else personal. In the community you are a handle. You sign in to the browser with an email and a password. The rest is below, and each product carries its own list on its page.
- the application
- Your contact, what you wrote, the page language and the time it arrived. The application itself holds no address and no browser: those are only in the server log, the row below. The founder reads it and may show it to current members before acceptance.
- who invited you
- A member’s handle, if you gave one.
- in the community
- Your handle.
- the browser account
- The sign-in email and a password check, which is not the password.
- the recovery key
- Held by us, so that a forgotten password is not the end of your profiles.
- the cloud and teams
- If you turn on the cloud for a profile or share it with a team: a copy of the profile with its cookies, passwords and proxy login. The key to it is ours, so we can technically open it. Without the cloud or a team, a profile is only on your disk.
- Methmine VPN
- Your account, devices and traffic used. The IP address of requests to its server is kept for thirty days. Sites, DNS lookups and the content of your traffic are not recorded. More on the Methmine VPN page.
- Address confirmation, password resets, recovery notices and team invitations are sent through an outside mail service, which sees the address and the text of the message.
- our server
- An ordinary request log: address, page, time, browser, where you came from. The network provider in front of the site sees it too. The account service keeps a sign-in log of the same kind.
Contact.
We answer ourselves, with no sales team and no bot on the first line.
How to get into the beta.
The three rules of the closed programme are on the front page. So is the application.
