Open-source licences

Methmine Browser is built on open-source software. We are grateful to the people who write it. Each component below is licensed to you under its own licence, and nothing in the Methmine Browser Product Terms limits a right that licence gives you in that component.

The complete licence texts and copyright notices ship with the software:

  • The Methium engine: open the address chrome://credits in any Methium window. It lists Chromium and every third-party component compiled into the engine, with its licence.
  • The Methmine application: the installation folder contains LICENSE.electron.txt and LICENSES.chromium.html for the application runtime, and THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt for the components listed below.

To ask for a copy of any notice, or for source code that a licence entitles you to receive, write to contact@methmine.com.

The engine

  • Chromium, by The Chromium Authors. BSD 3-Clause licence. The Methium engine is a modified build of Chromium; our changes are the property of METHMINE LLC.
  • Third-party components of Chromium, each under its own licence (including BSD, MIT, Apache 2.0, LGPL and MPL components), as listed at chrome://credits.

The application

  • Electron, by the Electron contributors. MIT licence. Electron includes Chromium and Node.js, under their own licences.
  • React and React DOM, by Meta Platforms, Inc. and affiliates. MIT licence.
  • TanStack Virtual, by Tanner Linsley. MIT licence.
  • @tanstack/virtual-core and scheduler, the libraries the two above are built on, by Tanner Linsley and by Meta Platforms, Inc. and affiliates. MIT licence.
  • Inter, by Rasmus Andersson. SIL Open Font License 1.1.
  • JetBrains Mono, by JetBrains s.r.o. SIL Open Font License 1.1.

The helper programs (mmcore, mmmcp, mmupdate)

  • The Go standard library and Go runtime, by The Go Authors. BSD 3-Clause licence.
  • golang.org/x/crypto and golang.org/x/sys, by The Go Authors. BSD 3-Clause licence.
  • lxn/walk and lxn/win, by The Walk Authors. BSD 3-Clause licence.
  • govaluate, by George Lester. MIT licence.

Our own software

Everything not listed above, including the Methmine application, the Methium modifications, the value store, the fingerprint generator, the helper programs and the account service, is proprietary software of METHMINE LLC, licensed to you only under the Methmine Browser Product Terms.
