Templates
A template fixes what should repeat and never the machine itself.
What the screen shows
A list of templates and a New template button. For each, what it fixes, how many variants it leaves, and how many profiles were made from it.
- Template
- The name and a note on what it is for. The note is for you, never for a site: nothing in it reaches a profile.
- Fixes
- The pinned axes. A pinned axis is the same on every profile the template makes. Nothing pinned means every profile draws the whole table.
- Leaves
- How many distinct machines the template can still produce. When few are left, the row is marked: such a template no longer makes profiles that differ, it makes a set.
- Used by
- How many profiles were made from it. Editing a template does not reach into the profiles it already made.
What a template does not hold
No seed, no fingerprint, no cookies. Every profile draws its own seed, once, at creation, and it is never derived again, so there is nothing to copy. Every axis list holds the values the generator itself draws from, so a pinned axis is still a machine that could exist.
What you do here
- Create a template: a name, the pinned axes, and a note on what it is for.
- Make profiles from it: each gets its own seed, and the pinned axes are the same on all of them.
- Read Leaves before making more: the number of variants left is on the screen.
