Updating the engine
When a new engine build is offered, what happens to profiles that are already open, and what follows from putting it off.
The engine does not update on its own; it updates when a profile is launched. Launch checks the engine first and opens the browser after. It is also where an engine arrives on a machine that has none.
Three situations
- A newer build exists
- An update is offered, with the size of the download. Update now, or Later.
- No engine on the machine
- It is installed for the first time. There is nothing to put off to: no engine means no profile can start, and the Later button says so.
- The application is older
- The application updates first and the engine follows it.
While it runs
A progress bar with a share done, and a line saying the download carries on even if the window is closed. When the build is in place the profile starts on it. If the download stops, the window names the reason and offers to try again.
Putting it off
The old build has a day after which it is no longer supported, and the application names that day while Later is still available. After it the button stops pressing and says why, and the profile will not start until the update is taken.
